Another bloody conspiracy
Sunday, February 25, 2007
I've just watched The Conspiracy Files on BBC Two. This week it concerned the death of Dr David Kelly in 2003 thought by some to be murder and not suicide, the verdict of the Hutton inquiry.
Most of the arguments presented by those, including Norman Baker MP, who promulgate the murder theory were comprehensively demolished by the programme but - while I believe that Dr Kelly's death was, indeed, a consequence of his self-administered overdose, a severed artery and a pre-existing cardiac problem - that doesn't mean I don't think he was murdered. On the contrary, I am as convinced today as I was in July 2003 that others were responsible for this poor man's death.
They were not, however, dark, shadowy figures from the secret services or Iraqis bent on revenge (as one participant in tonight's programme alleged). Kelly was hounded to death by his superiors including our own great leader, Tony Blair and a collection of attack dogs including that despicable shit, Alistair Campbell. "Do you have blood on your hands Mr Blair?", asked a reporter in Japan on the morning when the news of Kelly's death broke. Blair's ashen face said it all. For a short while we saw a man with a conscience. We saw shock, maybe even shame, certainly fear. Within 24 hours he had regained his composure and that was the end of that.
Yes Dr Kelly was 'killed by others' and we all know who the guilty are. Now, if only they would all saunter off into a wood somewhere with a job-lot of co-proxamol and some Stanley knives...

UPDATE: For anyone contemplating joining the conspiracy set - you'll now have Mad Mel for company.
