It's a wrap

Moss will not face drug charges

Yawn. I said when all this kicked off that the only way Moss would be prosecuted was if she was stupid enough to admit an offence to the police. I said then that she should just tell them to fuck off!  At the time Sir Ian Blair, that laughable excuse for a policeman, puffed his chest out and warned the middle-classes that their days of snorting were numbered.  Yeah, like we all believed you, what with your excellent  record as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.

The fact that there was no way to prove that Kate Moss was snorting anything illegal hasn't stopped the CPS making a complete arse of itself:
The CPS said the film footage "provides an absolutely clear indication that Ms Moss was using controlled drugs and providing them to others".

No it doesn't. It shows her snorting. It tells us absolutely nothing about what she's snorting.

"Expert analysis of the footage, however, narrowed the possibilities down to three particular drugs - cocaine, ecstasy or amphetamine.

What the fuck is 'expert' analysis. Let's see. Oh yeah, it's a white powder. Must be coke or maybe speed or, a long shot here, MDMA.

I've seen people snort Cypriot sherbet, Bassets sherbet, bicarbonate of soda, homeopathic teething powder and several other inert substances. I know exactly what they were snorting because I gave it to them. It was my way of dealing with greedy bastards at parties who refused to put their hands in their pockets. I saw it as a rather benevolent act. You try getting a £1,000 a week sherbet dib-dab habit.  I'm not suggesting that Moss was that stupid but hey, it was late and if she'd been doing it all night she wouldn't have known the difference.

I see that the BBC ten o'clock news has got in on the act. It managed to get a shot of her tits in too. Tabloid TV? Surely not.

I did smile when they showed a shot of the recording studios where the alleged offence took place. It was called The Power House.

Update: The Daily Mirror, which broke the Moss story, is taking it rather well. But Blair is getting stick from everywhere, including ex-coppers:
Former Flying Squad chief JohnO'Connor said Sir Ian and Assistant Commissioner Tariq Ghaffur should never have started the investigation. He added: "They didn't have her caught in possession of the drug, so really Ghaffur saying he was going to interview Kate Moss was grandstanding. He knows full well that, unless you catch someone in possession, you haven't got a case.""Sir Ian Blair was also grandstanding. It was done purely for spin and image to give the impression they are doing something about celebrities sending out a bad example." The CPS knew from day one that they never had a prayer.
