"This is the BNP - two, BBC - nil"

BNP leader cleared of race hate

A victory for freedom of speech? Not if Gordon Brown gets his way:
Speaking to the BBC after the acquittal, Chancellor Gordon Brown said race laws may have to be tightened. He said: "I think any preaching of religious or racial hatred will offend mainstream opinion in this country and I think we've got to do whatever we can to root it out from whatever quarter it comes. "And if that means we've got to look at the laws again I think we will have to do so".
But these men were found NOT GUILTY of preaching and inciting racial hatred. That's not good enough for Brown and Co. Acquital for them means failure of the law not success for justice.

This retrial should never have gone ahead. The CPS knew perfectly well they had only a slim chance of success and they must have communicated that opinion to ministers. This was a politically motivated prosecution and that, together with ' disturbing response, worries me far more than the twitterings of dim BNP leaders in pubs in Yorkshire. In addition the BNP has been handed a public relations triumph that they could never have achieved on their own.  Once again, our glorious leaders have shown just how arrogant, stupid, cack-handed and out of touch they are. Morons.
