A great deal of nonsense has been spoken about veil wearing.  Yesterday, on the radio, a listener pointed out  that it was perfectly possible to communicate with someone on the telephone without seeing their face, the suggestion being, presumably, that it was therefore fine for a teaching assistant to wear the niqab in the classroom.

But it's perfectly possible to communicate with someone by telephone who is lying starkers on his couch masterbating.  I don't suppose we'll be seeing naked wankers teaching in classrooms anytime soon (although you'll always  meet a few fully-clothed tossers in the staffroom)
