Via Steve Brady at Whatever:Kevin Drum says those numbers about what Americans believe about evolution, etc. (In a recent Gallup survey, only 35% of Americans said they believed evolution was "a scientific theory well-supported by evidence." The other 65% either disagreed or weren't sure) are not so bad, considering 25% of Americans think the sun goes around the Earth.
20% of Americans do not think that the center of the Earth is "very hot"
67% think the universe did not begin with a big explosion
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
47% think that humans did not evolve
I see a little silhouetto of a man,Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
52% think that humans coexisted with dinosaurs.
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
46% think that it takes the Earth either a day or a month to go around the sun
Nothing really matters,Anyone can see,Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,
(Not that I think the results would be much better in the U.K.)
