Ageing second generation Irish immigrant

south-Londoner now living in Kent

Amongst other things:

Ex master-baker, chef, stand-up comic, club compère, salesman, guest-house keeper, businessman, etc, blah, blah... Returned to the south of England after living for three years in peaceful and boringly monocultural rural Aberdeenshire.

I post things that interest me.

If anyone else finds them interesting, whoopee!

I’m not a frustrated writer, politician or journalist. I am unaffiliated, politically and I have rather eclectic tastes and views, some of them contradictory! I hate, humbug, authoritarianism, hypocrisy, bullying, injustice and cant (among other things). Often mistaken for a cynic I am in fact merely a hardline sceptic who easily gets cheesed off with all the bullshit in the world, wherever it comes from I no longer fool myself that I can do anything to change things so I mostly concentrate on minimising the adverse effects of others on me and mine.

This is just an old-fashioned pullquote and link blog. It mostly consists of links to things , with a quote extracted from the source so you know what it’s about, geddit? It also has no comment facility, just like many very long established and well respected blogs, such as Jason Kottke’s. That, apparently makes me very ‘Web 1.0’. Some people go as far as to say it means this isn’t a ‘real’ blog. A ‘real’ blog would be me posting incessantly about the stupid antics of some gormless, dopey Tory MP and then allowing others to come here and add their equally tedious opinions about it. No thanks! I just want somewhere to post stuff. I don’t want a ‘conversation’. If you really feel the need to communicate with me there is a perfectly good method you can use. It’s called email. It won’t however enable you to run a cosy little chat room with other commenters on this blog. If you want to do that use you own blog.

In the big scheme of things this site (just like 80 million others) doesn’t add up to a hill of beans. But then what does?
